Boy, have we come a long way. From growing plants in tin cans in river bottom clay soil to growing them in plastic containers in a soilless mix, we’re always striving for better. Along with some in-house plant breeding, we are connected with breeders all around the globe. We keep an eye out for plants that are grower friendly and the best for your landscape. Our on-site trial garden was established to evaluate plant performance for winter hardiness, length of bloom, compactness, and what we call the WOW factor - just to name a few. You can bet we won’t release a new product until we know it’s a winner.

Our plants are grown in a soilless mix. They have adequate slow release fertilizer to keep them healthy for a growing season. At Saunders Brothers, we want you be happy with the plants that we ship to you. Before ordering, make sure the plant chosen will be suited for the site you have chosen and is hardy for your landscape. Use the USDA website to determine this.
All of our plants are certified by the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. They have verified that our stock has been inspected and found apparently free from destructive plant pests. We also possess their Boxwood Blight Compliance Agreement Shipping Certificate.

We started making wreaths in the 1990’s. Because we wanted to be different and hopefully better than the competition, we researched many different plants to determine which would hold up as a cut for the Christmas season. We elected to make wreaths utilizing differing plant textures and colors of berries or foliage to “spice” our wreaths and give you a unique look. Around 2005, we designated a retired orchard site just to grow the plants that we had chosen. We are continuing to identify fresh and colorful plants that can seasonally add that extra splash to your front door for the holidays or a special occasion.
All are treated with a biodegradable anti-desiccant to prevent them from drying out. They are made to finish around 22-24” wide and are perfect for your entry door.
The only location that we recommend avoiding is one between a storm glass door and an entry door. The heat behind the door can dry out the wreath prematurely.
